Solicitor Bristol believes that justice is only just if it's available to everyone. It is her aim to create a safer, more compassionate community through effective early interventions that protect victims and help to set low-level offenders on the right path.

Priorities

Lisamarie understands that a major key to improving public safety is shifting our priorities towards strategies that reduce crime. To this end, she has redirected resources to (1) better target the few individuals who pose the greatest threat to our society, (2) provide immediate support to victims of crime, and (3) reduce future crime from low-level offenders by focusing on restorative accountability strategies that promote rehabilitation and changed behavior.
Lisamarie believes that justice should be fair, firm and restorative. Those who break the law should be held accountable for their actions. However, she also understands that the key to breaking the cycle of crime is using accountability strategies that are restorative, interrupting the cycle at its root and putting people back on track to rebuild their lives.

Solicitor Bristol is committed to fairness in prosecution. She ensures that each case is treated with the understanding that there are real people involved. As such, there are no blanket filing policies, remedies are issued in proportion to the public safety concern, and she expanded the Office’s diversion program for low-level offenders offering more culturally relevant service providers–a major step in the right direction in accounting for the unique needs of Gwinnett County, the most diverse county in the United States.

Furthering her work to strategically reduce crime through fair prosecution, Solicitor Bristol runs a fast track jail court minimizing the life disruption for non-violent, low-level offenders. Not only does this program ensure a speedier processing, it frees up resources, enabling the county jail to focus on the most serious threats to the public safety.
Solicitor Bristol understands interrupting cycles of violence relies heavily on the state’s ability to provide well-rounded and immediate services and resources to victims of crime. Entering her first year as Solicitor, she elevated staff training requirements in an effort to provide comprehensive, culturally relevant, and trauma-informed services for victims. Under Solicitor Bristol’s leadership, all victim advocates are nationally credentialled and cases are conducted in compliance with Marsy’s Law. Immediately after a crime and throughout the investigation, they aid victims with safety planning and an assortment of wraparound resources to aid in their trauma recovery, in addition to keeping the victim abreast of proceedings throughout the criminal justice process.

To better fight on behalf of victims impacted by more complex crimes, Solicitor Bristol created a Special Victims Unit focused on vehicular homicides, sex crimes, and violent cases involving parties with a special relationship.
One of our primary tools in keeping our communities safe from violence is prevention education. Solicitor Bristol is a proven community partner who will continue to break down barriers to the tools and resources our families need. This focus not only saves taxpayer dollars by mitigating the tremendous costs of arrest and incarceration, but also allows for greater community collaboration in crime prevention. Through her trusted leadership, Solicitor Bristol will continue fighting for the most vulnerable in our county by delivering on programs that take on the cycle of domestic abuse, protect our seniors, keep our teens safe, and keep drunk drivers off our roads.

Through strengthening partnerships with our dedicated public servants in law enforcement, and utilizing her legislative knowledge, Solicitor Bristol will work hand in hand with policy makers and community stakeholders to fight for the change we need.
